Larsen & Toubro (L&T) - the country's largest engineering and construction company with global operations - has decided to retain its Mysore-based medical equipment and systems (MED) business unit. L&T has been providing a wide range of medical equipment with a distribution network across the country.
Issuing a statement in this regard to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), RN Mukhija, president operations of L&T said “In view of the overwhelming demand from our customers the L&T management has decided to retain the medical equipment business.”
The decision takes into account the interest of all stockholders, including customers and distributors. MED is also setting up a new manufacturing facility near the existing unit in Mysore, which is expected to be ready by March 2009.
