Chennai based tyre maker MRF Ltd said the company has declared lockout at its manufacturing plant situated at Puducherry.
The company informed the stock exchanges that the lockout was on account of labour unrest in the factory, and was effective since second shift of February 22.
MRF has plants in Chennai, Arakonam, Puducherry, Kotayyam in Kerala, Medak in Andhra Pradesh and Goa. The units in Tamilnadu were facing labour unrest for more than a year.
Two weeks ago, the Madras High Court had upheld a Tamilnadu government decision to prohibit an indefinite lock-out declared by the management of MRF in its Tiruvotriyur plant, which was closed since December, 2007.
