Lakshmi Venu, 28, daughter of TVS Motor Co’s chairman and managing director, Venu Srinivasan (her mother, Mallika Srinivasan, is chairman of the Amalgamations Group’s TAFE), has been appointed vice president, global business development and strategy, for Sundaram Clayton Ltd, part of the TVS group.
She is to also continue as director-strategy of the company. She was appointed to this charge last March, in the rank of a managing director.
Lakshmi Venu is also engaged to be married to Rohan, son of Infosys’co-founder and head, N R Narayana Murthy.
“She will be instrumental for developing strategy for global operations and administering the US operations of SCL,” said a company announcement.
A doctorate in engineering management from the University of Warwick, she has been working with the group since 2003.
SCL is a leading auto components manufacturing and distribution company.
It posted a net profit of Rs 15.7 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, against Rs 4.2 crore during the same period of the previous year. Total income was Rs 225.7 crore in the last quarter of 2010-11, an increase of 51 per cent compared to Rs 149 crore posted in the corresponding period of 2009-10.
