Hyderabad-based Lanco Infratech posted a 26 per cent jump in net profit to Rs 113 crore, from Rs 90 crore in the same period last year.
The total income of the company rose at 18 per cent to Rs 2,403 crore, from Rs 2,033 crore in the corresponding quarter of last year. For the financial year 2009-10, the company’s net profit went up by 63.5 per cent to Rs 458 crore, from Rs 280 crore last year. The company’s revenues went up by 35 per cent to Rs 8,082 crore, from Rs 6,006 crore last year.
Lanco has increased its power generation capacity to 1,349 Mw. During the year, it capitalised its 600-Mw Amarkantak project, the 233-Mw Kondapalli project and two hydro power projects of 5 Mw capacity each. The company also increased its stake in the Amarkantak project to 100 per cent from 77.7 per cent.
The company’s engineering, procurement and construction orderbook is at Rs 25,713 crore. “With power generation, engineering, procurement and construction as our strengths, we are also exploring opportunities in roads, transmission, distribution and other emerging infra sectors. I expect the coming year to be more robust on account of newer opportunities available in developmental space. Our strategy of spreading our operations in multiple geographies is paying off really well and throwing up numerous opportunities,” said L Madhusudhan Rao, chairman.
