Lanxess India Pvt Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of German speciality chemical group Lanxess, on Thursday inaugurated its ion exchange resin unit at Jhagadia in Gujarat.
The unit, having annual production capacity of 35,000 million tonnes per annum, was inaugurated by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. "A decade ago Jhagadia which was hardly known to people is on the global map today. It is the fastest growing tribal taluka of the country. It is now famous in 50 countries across the globe," Modi said at the inaugural ceremony.
Commenting about the project, Modi said it is one of the fastest implemented projects in the country. Ion exchange resins are used to remove dissolved components from liquids and finds applications in power plants, food, and pharmaceutical industry.
