Engineering major Larsen & Toubro Ltd posted 32 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 765 crore for the second quarter ending September 30, 2010 as compared to 580.4 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
Total income of the company rose sharply to Rs 9712.95 crore from Rs 8132.99 crore during the quarter under consideration.
On the back of a 63 per cent growth in order inflow recorded in the quarter ended June 30, 2010, the company registered a growth of 11 per cent in order inflow during the quarter ended September 30 this year over the same period of the previous year.
This translates into a cumulative growth of 29 per cent in order flow during the first half of the current year.
Total order inflow currently stands at Rs 20464 crore during the second quarter with total order book rising to Rs 115393 crore.
The company reported an operating margin at Rs 10.8 per cent during the quarter.
