"The posts of Chief Executives are presently vacant in 29 CPSEs. These PSUs include MMTC, BHEL Electric Machines Ltd, National Fertilisers Ltd, NHPC and Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltd," Minister of Heavy Industries and and Public Enterprises Praful Patel said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
The main reasons for vacant board level posts in CPSEs include occurrence of unforeseen vacancies which arose due to resignation/death/vertical shift of incumbent, non-extension of tenure of incumbent and scrapping of panel recommended by the competent authority and creation of new board level posts, he added.

"The filling up of board level posts in CPSEs is a continuous process and these vacant posts would get filled on a regular basis once the incumbent takes charge of the post after completion of all formalities in this regard," Patel said.
The vacant board level posts are being manned by assigning additional charge arrangements so that regular functioning of these PSUs is not affected.
