The new work life

I used to travel extensively. Now, on account of the lockdown, I have been using virtual platforms to work with the organisation and with various stakeholders. With the country combating an unprecedented medical crisis, the entire Apollo family of 80,000 has been working round the clock to ensure that we are able to provide timely assistance for testing and treatment, reaching medicines to homes, facilitating digital consultations and a safe environment for treatment of non-Covid patients.

Homebound, and how

I have certainly been a lot more committed to wellness of late. I have also been enjoying the extra time saved from travel to nurture newer pursuits in business and relaxation. More time with the family has also been wonderful. Old hobbies like photography have resurfaced and technology has made it more exciting.

The lesson

Covid-19 has been an unparalleled test of character and resilience for millions around the world. Nevertheless, none of what we have done compares to the sacrifices made by those at the frontline.

The pandemic also caused a tremendous economic upheaval and at times, the pressure has been daunting. Yet, it is important for all in a leadership position to be calm, remain optimistic and explore ways to find new opportunities to assist and offer solutions. I would add that business leaders must also use this time to reimagine their business model, and their industry.
