Levi Strauss to expand Dockers stores

Levi Strauss & Co plans to expand its Dockers San Francisco stores to 40 by mid 2008, from the present 27, and to 50 by this year end, said John Anderson, global CEO and president of the company.

Announcing the launch of the company's fifth Dockers flagship store in India at Hyderabad, he said India would be a major thrust area for the company and would launch several initiatives in the coming months to further strengthen its brand equity in the Indian fashion and lifestyle world.

"Initially, we launched a part of our women's apparel range today. We will be adding non-apparel range including accessories in the next six to nine months," he added.

Stating that the company believes in the potential that the Indian market offers, he said they would capitalise on the design and manufacturing capabilities of the country. Levi Strauss at present has 170 Levi's stores across the country.
