LG Electronics India (LGEIL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of South Korea-based LG Electronics, today unveiled a 32-inch plasma TV, which is the smallest in its category. This new entrant in the plasma TV segment is priced at Rs 40,000.With this launch, the company hopes to strengthen its hold in the flat panel display(FPD) market in India. Till now, LCD TVs have dominated the small size range in the FPD market."The innovation marks the latest technology breakthrough brought by LG and further underlines the brand commitment to offer consumers the ultimate experience. With the launch of the 32-inch Plasma LGEIL plans to capture around 40% of the FPD market by year end," Amitabh Tiwari, business group head (consumer electronics & kitchen appliances), LGEIL, said.V Ramachandran, director (sales & marketing), LGEIL said, "Entering the small screen plasma market entails a long-term commitment to customers to build upon our strong imaging technologies and design capabilities."A company release said the LG plasma TV is equipped with a technology which reduces the power consumption compared to other competitors when displaying the same picture. In addition, the TV 10mm slimmer than other plasma TV for more effective space saving.LGEIL registered a turnover of Rs 9,500 crore in 2007, the release added.
