| Explaining the company's strategy for Gujarat, Anupam Bansal, Executive Director, Liberty said, "Footwear is the most underpriced industry and we want to make people buy more branded footwear. Therefore, we are looking for an upcoming market like Gujarat which offers four growing cities like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot. We will be setting up at least eight stores in any of the three formats in Gujarat at an investment of Rs 4 crore." |
| Liberty, which has a product base of around 1,200, recently expanded its capacity by setting up three manufacturing units in tax-free zones of Roorkee, Ponta Sahib I and Ponta Sahib II at an investment of Rs 60 crore. |
| Liberty has three formats of stores viz. Revolutions, Liberty Exclusive Showroom and Liberty Factory Price Store. Revolutions is a premium fashion footwear store while Liberty Exclusive Showroom is a value-based store housing mid-range products. Its low-priced merchandise are available at the Liberty Factory Price Store. |
| In all, the company is looking to invest Rs 30-40 crore to set up at least 100 selling points in these three formats. |
| In the Rs 10,000-12,000 crore footwear market, Liberty's share is around 10 per cent in branded footwear. The company is also looking to earn more from exports. Presently, 25 per cent of its sales comes from exports, said Bansal. |
| Liberty also acts as an OEM for many branded global footwear company. "We see a lot of scope for India turning as OEM hub because of anti-dumping laws being enacted in China which is a Big competitor. The Chinese laws will in fact boost our operations as OEMs," added Bansal. |
| Apart from its own stores and franchised stores, Liberty also has tie ups with Pantaloon Retail to market its products at the latter's footwear retail outlet 'Shoe Factory'. |
