In an unprecedented turnaround, the turnover of Lohia Starlinger Ltd, a city-based manufacturer of circular looms and machines required for making woven sacks, has jumped from Rs 136.51 crore in 2003-04 to Rs 191 crore in 2004-05.

Managing Director Raj Kumar Lohia said it was due to the work of the last 4"5 years. Asked about R&D expenditure, Lohia did not give any figures.

The company now makes a complete range of woven plastic machines, weaving, lamination, converting, recycling, etc.

According Lohia, over 50 per cent of the firm's products are exported to about 45 countries.

The group's foray into threads and automotive plastic components has been highly successful, with factories set up in Kanpur and Chennai.

It caters for a large number of four-wheeler companies.
