Lotto Sport eyes 10% market share by 2008

Lotto Sport Italia, the licensee of Sierra Industrial Enterprises Pvt Ltd , aims at a ten per cent share of the Indian branded footwear market by the year 2007-08.
 
The branded footwear market in India is likely to touch Rs 650 crore by 2007-08 from present 500 crore and Lotto aims at sale of Rs 65 crore by the next three years.
 
"The branded footwear market in the country is pegged at Rs 500 crore at present, and although Lotto is presently expanding its base in the country, we aim at a turnover of Rs 25 crore this fiscal. However, by the year 2007-08, Lotto will have a ten per cent share at sales of Rs 65 crore," said B D Nathani, vice-president, sales-marketing, Lotto.
 
Nathani said that 20 distributors have been appointed in 20 major states of the country, and Lotto today is present in over 512 stores.
 
"We plan to open ten exclusive outlets over the next five months. We will have one in Mumbai, two in Delhi, and one in Hyderabad, Vishakapatnam, Bhuvaneshwar, Ranchi, Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat," said the official.
 
Two of these ten outlets are already operational in Delhi and Vadodara. The company aims to sell its shoes over 1000 outlets by 2007.
 
Commenting on having signed tennis sensation Sania Mirza as a brand ambassador, Nathani said that Lotto will also sponsor the Indian Feederation Cup team for this year's competition and the Fall-Winter collection will hit stores by October this year. "In December, we will launch a Sania Signature Line collection that will comprise of footwear and apparel," Nathani said.
 
The official said that the company will continue its strategy of manufacturing and selling shoes for football, calcetto and tennis. Calcetto is a smaller version of soccer, where there are six players in a side.
 
"While the rubber and soles of all our shoes will be imported, the high end shoes will be directly imported and marketed here," said Nathani.
