The first ever consortium formed by five Ludhiana-based hosiery manufacturers aims to break the stranglehold of multinational textile brands over the local market. |
Aranz Clothing, inaugurated one and a half years ago, now plans to increase its business 10 times, besides promoting its own brand "Wee" in several parts of the country. |
In an effort to reap the benefits of the consortium approach, five hosiery manufacturers namely Sarjeevan Knitwears, Palta Hosiery, Jolly Hosiery, Denmark Hosiery and Goldpar Hosiery together formed the company with an objective of promoting common branding. |
"To compete with big international brands, we clubbed together and decided to launch our own brand, which would be promoted in several parts of Punjab first," said Sudershan Jain, one of the partners in the consortium. |
"We plan to first consolidate our market in Punjab and then venture into other markets in the country. We expect to increase our business 10 times in the next two-three years," Jain added. |
