Announcing the launch of this 6-days-a-week flight, Lufthansa South East Asia Director Werner Heesen said, the company plans to attract only "corporate" fliers through this flight.

"We have 48 seats with exclusive business class facilities. Executives of German companies operating in Pune and Indian corporates travelling to Germany would find this flight convenient. Our market research suggests that the flight would have an excellent load factor," Heesen stated.

Lufthansa presently operates 55 flights every week from India to Franfurt, Munich and Zurich. Apart from Pune, it has operations from Mumbai, Kolkata, New Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

The company makes 23 per cent of its asia-pacific region revenues from India, just below the top revenue making country Japan.

Though Heesen did not disclose the number of passegers on the first flight, sources confirmed, the number was 25.
