Mahindra had sold a total of 16,800 tractors in the same month previous year, the company said in a statement.
"We are happy with the 38% growth during April. We feel that this is on the back of improved market sentiments," Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd's Farm Equipment sector Chief Executive Rajesh Jejurikar said.

In addition, the expectation of a normal monsoon is clearly being seen as a positive indicator, he added.
While the domestic sales increased by 38% to 22,196 units, exports grew by 34% to 1,006 units during April, the company said.
