Uttaranchal was emerging as the most preferred location for industries across the country and Ma Foi would provide specialised training, catering for the needs of the job aspirants, said D Rajiv Krishnan, chief executive officer (CEO), Ma Foi Outsourcing Solutions. |

Nearly 22,000 jobs related to various sectors like business process outsourcing (BPO) were expected to be created, with over 300 firms like Hindustan Lever, Anchor Enterprises, Mahindra and Mahindra, and Atlas Cycles proposing to set up units in Hardwar, he said. |

He said about 5,000 people were also expected to be employed in 31 industries coming up at Pantnagar in the Udham Singh Nagar district. |

Special economic zones focusing on bio-technology, agriculture, food-processing industry, apparel, gems and diamonds, information technology, and BPO would also be set up in Pantnagar, he said, adding Uttaranchal was expected to have four of the 48 export zones in the country. |

Citing Nasscom's annual market intelligence study "Strategic Review 2003," Krishnan said 1.1 million professionals would be required in the IT-enabled services (ITES) and BPO segment by 2008. With a high literacy rate of 72 per cent, Uttaranchal offered an excellent pool of young workers, he said. |

Ma Foi's centre would not only act as a link between the ITES sector and the job aspirants, it will provide the much-needed support to the sector looking for quality people, he said. |
