Southern cement major Madras Cements has posted a rise of 21.45 per cent in its net profit for the quarter ended 30 June at Rs 138.42 crore compared with Rs 113.97 crore in the previous corresponding quarter. The company's net sales during the quarter stood at Rs 768.35 crore against Rs 614.97 crore, up 24.94 per cent.
The southern cement market in the quarter under review had grown by around 4.5 per cent against the national average of over 11 per cent.
On the Bombay Stock Exchange, the company's shares traded last on Thursday at Rs 115.25, up 2.9 per cent.
