Madras Cements today reported a 77% rise in net profit for the quarter ended December 31, 2011, to Rs 76.84 crore on the back of higher sales.
The Chennai-based firm had clocked a net profit of Rs 43.48 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal, it said in a communique to the BSE.
Net sales of the company also increased to Rs 741 crore during the October-December quarter of the current fiscal from Rs 579.21 crore in the same quarter last fiscal.
Scrips of the company were being quoted at Rs 129.95 apiece in afternoon trade on the BSE, up 3.92% from their previous close.
