After Uttarakhand and Orissa, now Maharashtra also has joined the race to lure Tata Motors to set up their much talked about small car or Nano project in the state.
We will roll out red carpet to Tata Motors if they wish to set up small car project in any part of the state and we give them open invitation to come to the state of Maharashtra", says a statement issued by the chief minister's office on behalf of chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.
When contacted Deshmukh said, "we are definitely interested in getting the Nano project, if Tatas are thinking about moving out of West Bengal, then they should think of Maharashtra as a first choice as the company already has a sizeable presence in the state and considering various advantages which Maharashtra offers; state is most suitable destination for the project".
Replying to question Deshmukh said, we can offer them land at five to six places near Pune, Nashik and Nagpur and besides this if they have any other site in mind, we are willing to make them land available at the site of their choice also.
Speaking about advantage which Maharashtra offers over the other state he said, "Maharashtra offers excellent infrastructure both physical and social, which no other state in the country can offer. Besides this, Maharashtra is already a major automobile hub, which gives access to trained man power as well as ready vendor base".
And apart from this we don't have leaders like Mamta Banrjee in the state, who will oppose the project of such kind, which is going to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, said Deshmukh in the lighter vein
In fact I am confident, opposition parties from state are mature enough to understand the importance of such project for the state, Deshmukh asserted.
