Eyeing a good growth, automobile maker Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M), that also manufactures mini tractor ‘Yuvraj 215’ at Rajkot, have expanded their production capacity from 1800 units to 2500 units per year.
The company has been producing mini tractor in collaboration with city-based Field Marshal Group since 2009 at Rajkot.Recently Anand Mahindra, vice chairman and managing director, M&M Group, took a visit of the plant and took stock of all the facilities of the tractor unit.
According to him, “The company is looking forward to growth from the Rajkot unit.” The plant has also scaled up its capacity from producing its current capacity of 1800 tractors to 2500 tractors. The tractor is currently being sold across 300 dealerships especially within the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
The Mahindra group on last Friday also rolled out its 13,636th Yuvraj 215 tractor from its state-of-the-art Rajkot plant. The roll out was done in the presence of Anand Mahindra, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Mahindra Group and the senior management team of the farm equipment sector.
“Currently we do not have any plans to start the production of big size tractor at the Rajkot unit and are focussed on the expansion of production capacity in the existing plant,” said Sudhir Shah, senior general manager, farm equipment sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
