Mahindra Powerol, the diesel gensets division of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, has projected generation of Rs 1,500 crore business in 2009-10, a top company official said today.
"In 2008-09, the division surpassed Rs 1,000 crore business against Rs 565 crore struck the previous year," (2007-08), company's general manager (retail business) Sachin Nijhawan told PTI.
To achieve the projected business figures, the company has planned to increase the number of sales dealers in the country from 135 to 175 and showrooms from 52 to 100, he said.
He said the company at present has three manufacturing facilities at Pune, Delhi and Chennai and 14 OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers).
Though there was no plan to add any OEM, production capacity at existing manufacturing facilities and others would be enhanced to meet sales potential, he said.
He said the recent launch of 320 KVA model had generated good business and added that a genset adapted to wind energy generation would be unveiled after testing of prototypes. Commercial production would begin before year end, he said.
Sachin said a special thrust would be given this year to increasing exports 10 fold by volume.
