Mahindra Satyam, a Hyderabad-based consulting and IT services firm, has opened a smart grid customer demonstration centre at its 120-acre premises here.
The facility, which can simulate micro-grid technologies of the future, was started in collaboration with, and using the components of, Schneider Electric India.
Vijayanand Vadrevu, chief strategy officer, Mahindra Satyam, said the demonstration centre would "showcase the benefits of smart grid technology by allowing customers to test various components in real-life environment."
It is designed to help customers understand and evaluate the technologies underlying the smart grid eco-system, the company said in a release.
The facility is part of the IT company's strategy to tap opportunities in the emerging challenge of balancing power supply and demand.
The company said it was well-positioned to offer comprehensive services in smart grid by collaborating internally with the Mahindra group firms such as Bridge Strategy Group for strategy consulting, Tech Mahindra for communication and security services, Mahindra Reva for electric vehicle technology, and Mahindra Solar for renewable energy technologies.
Arvind Kasturirangan, head (alliances & acquisitions), Schneider Electric India, said the huge demand-supply gap in electricity in India could be solved only with innovative solutions.
On BSE, the company scrip is trading at Rs 86.85, down 1.59% compared to its previous close of Rs 88.25.
