Hospitality major Marriott Hotels India will open 29 more hotels by 2013, of which 20 would be under its Courtyard brand, a top company official said.
"We will be opening 29 more hotels in the next three years under different brands. Twenty of these will be under the Courtyard by Marriott brand," JW Marriott Group Area Vice-President for India, Malaysia and Pakistan Rajeev Menon told reporters at the opening of its sixth Courtyard Hotel here today.
Marriott currently has 11 hotels under its five brands namely JW Marriott, Renaissance, Marriott Hotels and Resorts, Courtyard and Marriott Convention Centres across the country.
Marriott currently has five Courtyards in Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad, Gurgaon and Ahmedabad and will be opening its Lucknow property by the end of this year, Menon said.
Courtyard is the group's premium business hotel with tariffs starting from Rs 7,000 per night, Menon said, adding that the Mumbai Courtyard has 331 executive rooms and suites.
"Courtyard is one of our premium offerings and we have seen a phenomenal response for the brand worldwide. All the five properties in India are doing very well and we hope the Mumbai Courtyard would also do equally well," Menon said.

Marriott, that runs its chain of hotels on management contracts, plans to have 10,000 rooms in the country by 2013, Menon said. It operates about 2,800 rooms at present.
"Currently, we have 2,800 rooms operational. We plan to have 10,000 rooms in the next three years and 4,500 rooms by this year-end," he said.
The brand also plans to increase its headcount in the year ahead from 2,500 employees currently to 3,000, he said.
Marriott International also has plans to introduce its business brand Fairfield Inn and Suites in the country by the next year.
