Maruti bets on Celerio for sales turnaround

MSIL has reported 10.3% decline in total car sales in January at 1,02,416 units

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the country's largest passenger car maker has pinned hopes on its latest hatchback 'Celerio' to reverse sagging sales.

"There is rebound in sales with the launch of every new product. We are hopeful that it (Celerio) will bring rise in sale of cars", said Anand Prakash, commercial business Head (west zone), MSIL.

Prakash was in the city to launch Celerio.

MSIL has reported 10.3 per cent decline in total car sales in January at 1,02,416 units as against 1,14,205 units in the same month of last fiscal.

Sales of mini segment cars, including Maruti 800, Alto, A-Star and WagonR, declined 17 per cent to 38,565 units compared to 46,479 units in the year-ago month, MSIL had said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
