In a bid to ramp up sales of petrol cars, the country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) today introduced a refreshed and upgraded version of the WagonR priced upwards of Rs 3.58 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The new WagonR is costlier by Rs 10,000 across variants as compared to the outgoing version. However, it is fuel efficient by an added 5% delivering 20.51 kmpl.
“The WagonR is not just a bestseller for us but is also among the top five models in the industry. The changes introduced on the new WagonR are in line wuth the customer feedback received through our regular customer engagement programmes”, said Manohar Bhat, vice-president (marketing), MSIL. While the petrol-powered variants are priced between Rs 3.58 lakh and Rs 4.13 lakh, the CNG driven version comes for Rs 4.42 lakh.
Between April and November this financial year, the WagonR has sold 11,000 units on an average every month. Cumulative sales of 88,000 units for the car are lower by around four per cent as compared to the 92,000 units sold in the corresponding period in the last financial year.
“We are confident that customers will appreciate the refreshments in the new WagonR and it would help to strengthen brand WagonR”, added Bhat.
Maruti Suzuki said it has been able to deliver higher fuel economy with the new Wagon R through several factors that bring down friction, enhance engine breathing and improve combustion. In addition, introduction of low viscosity transmission oil helps in smoother gear shift and lowers maintenance costs for the new Wagon R.
