Maruti Suzuki India, which has just unveiled crossover utility vehicle SX4 S-Cross and concept sedan Ciaz, plans to introduce three products across the mid-sized sedan and utility vehicle categories through the next two years. It aims to increase its share in the mid-range premium vehicles market.

Kenichi Ayukawa, managing director and chief executive of the company, said, “The S-Cross will hit the roads before the commercial production of sports utility vehicle XA Alpha. But we cannot share the exact timing of the launch.”

Sources said the SX4 S-Cross was likely to go on sale next year.

All new models introduced by Maruti Suzuki will also be manufactured in left-hand drive (LHD) versions. Ayukawa said, “We want to expand the scope of exports out of India. Suzuki has entrusted Maruti Suzuki with the responsibility of producing and selling vehicles in Africa, West Asia and some markets in Southeast Asia.”
