Maruti violence: DM imposes Section 144

Holding any kind of procession and dharna at these places has also been banned

The District Magistrate today imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC in areas surrounding Maruti company here to avoid any confrontation between villagers and agitating sacked workers of the company.

District Magistrate Shekhar Vidyarthi has imposed the orders in whole area of IMT Manesar, Maruti Company at Manesar, Devi Lal Park Manesar, National Highway 8 and Mini Secretariat Gurgaon, under which assembling of five or more persons and carrying of weapons have been prohibited.

Holding any kind of procession and dharna at these places has also been banned.

"Keeping in view the maintenance of peace, tranquillity and to avert chaotic situation or untoward incident, law and order problem, inconvenience to citizens and business entities, these orders have been enforced in public interest," Vidyarthi said.

Since villagers and panchayats of various villages namely Kasan, Dhana, Bas Padamka and Bas Kusla have given their memorandums to the Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioner, in which they have informed that they will oppose any demonstration or dharna in IMT Manesar area, he said.

There is apprehension of their confrontation with the sacked workers, he said.

These orders shall remain enforced on 18th July only and anybody violating will be punished under Section 188 IPC.
