Medanta Group would invest about Rs 1,000 crore in its super-specialty hospital project coming up in Lucknow.
The proposed hospital spanning 12 acres is projected to start functioning in the next 12 months.
"We target to start the OPD (Out Patient Department) facility in our hospital in the next one year and launch other major services in the next 18 months," Medanta The Medicity chairman and managing director Naresh Trehan told the media here this evening.
The project would comprise a 1,000 bed hospital with 300 critical care beds and offering medical care for 20 different diseases.
He said Uttar Pradesh was extending all possible support in the ambitious project, which is one of the flagship projects of state chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.
"We aim to serve not only the people of UP but patients from other parts of India and foreign countries as well with Medanta Awadh," Trehan said.

In fact, Yadav had laid the foundation of the project in October 2014 in the presence of Trehan. The project is likely to provide direct employment opportunities to 25,000 people when fully operational.
Trehan said once the project is completed and it attains all critical milestones in providing state-of-art medical care and infrastructure, the hospital would then plan to set up satellite medical centres in other parts of the state, including Kanpur.
Medanta - The Medicity was first set up at Gurgaon in January 2010. Now, the Group also operates two others medical facilities viz. Medanta - Mediclinic and Medanta - Mediclinic Cybercity in New Delhi and Gurgaon respectively.
Earlier in the day, a ceremony was held at the project site, wherein Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav were also present.
