Medtronic launches its first TPTC in India

The centre would provide hands-on training to cardiologists on implanting devices for the management of life threatening cardiac problems such as arrhythmias, heart failure and coronary artery disease using a simulator-based virtual catheterisation lab.    

Talking to reporters, company Managing Director Milind Shah said additionally, Centre's state-of-the-art classroom and programmer lab would provide training to cardiologists on the programming and follow-up management of these devices.    

He said the TPTC in Chennai has been setup to fulfil Medtronic's commitment to helping ensure that physicians were adequately knowledgable and skilled to safety and effectivly implant device therapy for patients with heart rhythm disorders, heart failure and coronary artery disease.    

"The centre aims to provide cardiologist with tailored, peer-to-peer training courses on implantable cardiac device therapies that cover the most recent advances in patient diagnosis, device functioning, implantation technique and followup management of patients with device implants, " he added.
