City-based Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) has won a PURA (Provision of Urban amenities in Rural Areas) project worth Rs 120 crore.
Under this public private partnership (PPP) project, MEIL would take up works in the two gram panchayats of Kondapalli and Ibrahimpatnam within three years.
It would organise and manage the assets for 10 years after which the ownership would be automatically transferred to the local gram panchayats.
The company said it won the contract against competition from as many as 90 companies including Tata, Jindal and Reliance.
The PURA projects aim to bridge the infrastructure divide between urban and rural areas and includes water and sewerage, maintenance of village streets, drainage, solid waste management, skill development and development of economic activities.
MEIL has added people-centric initiatives such as village linked tourism, integrated rural hub (market), Agri-common centres and warehousing to the the project's concept plan, a company release said here on Monday.
