Mercedes-Benz India sales up two-fold in August

Luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz India today reported its highest-ever monthly sales of 573 units in August, an over two-fold jump compared to the year-ago period.

The company had sold 270 units in the corresponding month last year, Mercedes-Benz India said in a statement.

For the January-August period, the company's sales increased by 84.15 per cent to 3,497 units from 1,899 units in the same period last year, it added.

The car maker sells luxury C-Class, E-Class and S-Class sedans in the country, besides its M-Class and GL sports utility vehicles.
    
"Exciting products and exciting ways to showcase such products have been our constant endeavor. Our initiatives in 2010 have been targeted at customers from large as well as medium and small cities," Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Wilfried Aulbur said.
    
The company's strong sales performances during 2010 are a result of such customer focused initiatives, he added.
