Luxury car-maker Mercedes-Benz India today reported a 58.8% jump in sales to 640 units in January, 2011, its highest-ever tally for the month in any year.
The company sold 403 units in the corresponding month last year, Mercedes-Benz India said in a statement.
The Germany-based car-maker saw sales of its C-Class sedans jump to 265 units, while E-Class models found 252 buyers in India. Mercedes recorded sales of 46 premium S-Class sedans in January, 2011, it added.
The entire range of sports utility vehicles -- M, GL and R class cars -- witnessed 67 units of sales last month.
"2010 was an exciting year for us. While the market grew at 60 per cent, we at Mercedes-Benz India managed a growth of 80 per cent. This clearly shows that our exciting products, strong brand traction and ownership experience continue to be highly appreciated by our customers," Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Peter T Honegg said.
Meanwhile, another luxury car-maker, Audi, sold 480 units in January, 2011 -- its highest-ever monthly sales in India -- as against 306 units in the same month last year, translating into a 56.86% increase.
