Officials of the South Central Railway (SCR) and Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), along with Larsen & Toubro Limited, on Thursday discussed the feasibility and alternatives for crossing railway lines for the metro rail project in the city.
The SCR found the first and the third corridors feasible.
The first corridor (28.87 km long with 27 stations) from Miyapur, Nampally to LB Nagar has three crossing of railway tracks. These are at Bharatnagar, Lakdi-ka-Pul and Malakpet. The third corridor (27.51 km), covering Nagole, Ameerpet and Shilparamam with 23 stations, has four crossings.
“HMRL will consider the feasibility of alternative overhead crossings proposed by the SCR for one crossing at Secunderabad station for the second metro corridor (14.78 km) from the Jubilee Bus Station, RTC ‘X’ Road to Falaknuma covering 16 stations,” NVS Reddy, managing director, HMRL, stated in a release.
MS Jayanth, general manager, SCR, said, “Both South Central Railway and Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited have a very vital role to play for ensuring a world-class transport system in the city. SCR will extend its cooperation to HMRL ensuring to complete the project in time.”
