The ambassador of Mexico to India, Julio Faesler Carlisle, invited the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) to lead a delegation to his country to showcase the strengths of Gujarat's economy and business and understand the business ambience in Mexico. |
Addressing the members of the chamber, he also called for increasing bilateral trade and economic co-operation between India and Mexico. |

Carlisle said Mexico was keen to utilise India's business and economic strength and in this context, governors of two Mexican provinces would visit India soon. |
|
Carlisle also emphasised the need for further increasing and diversifying bilateral trade through physical export as well as investments in the countries as there was a tremendous opportunity for such a co-operation. |

He said Mexico imported fertiliser, yarn, textiles, handicraft items, chemicals and pharmaceutical products from India while it exported petroleum products in large quantity. |

He said there was a huge scope for enhancing co-operation in the information technology sector. |
|
Welcoming Carlisle, president of GCCI, Shreyas Pandya said Mexico could definitely take advantage of the diversified industrial base of Gujarat which was a leader in export of chemical, pharmaceutical, engineering and textile products and ready-made garments. |

He said there was a steady increase in exports from India to Mexico in the last couple of years. |

Chinubhai Shah, vice president of the chamber, requested the ambassador to provide more information about the economy and business strength of Mexico for the benefit of entrepreneurs in Gujarat. |
