Motor Industries Company (MICO), the Indian subsidiary of the global leader in automotive and industrial technology "" Robert Bosch GmbH, today commenced the commercial manufacturing of the complete common rail diesel (CRD) injectors at its Nashik facility. |
"The project cost is around Rs 550 crore and the company has spent around Rs 400 crore so far, while rest of the amount will be invested for expansion by 2008. The company will cater to both domestic and export markets. The company has set the target of rolling out 1 lakh complete CRD injectors by 2007-end which it aims to raise to 3.5 million by 2010," said Albert Hieronimus, Managing Director, MICO. |
MICO had signed the MoU with the Maharashtra government for the project at its Nashik facility in November 2005. |
The company, which has been manufacturing injector components for common rail at Nashik facility since 2006, today started commercial production of CRD injectors. The complete set of CRD injector includes 28 components. |
Fuel injectors are the main components of the common rail diesel system (CRS), a technology, which gives engine developers the freedom they need to reduce exhaust emissions further and cut down the engine noise. |
In order to comply with stricter emission norms like Euro III and Euro IV, new vehicles will need to be equipped with electronically-controlled fuel injection systems like common rail system. |
With the implementation of new emission norms in India from April 1, 2005, the market has to meet the Bharat Stage III (BS III) Standards. BS III is the Indian equivalent of Euro III. To reap the benefits this opportunity opens up, Bosch has introduced the 4TH generation CRS. |
"In 2006, worldwide sale of Bosch Common Rail Systems was 6.8 million units, which are projected to touch 8 million in 2007. In India, Bosch sold 40,000 Common Rail Systems in 2006 and it is projected to touch 1.3 million units by 2010," said Hieronimus. |
MICO's Nashik facility is spread over 100 acres and produces high quality injectors and nozzles for diesel engines of all types and applications. |
