Real-time embedded solutions company Mistral Solutions has signed a MoU to jointly collaborate and execute activities in the aerospace and defense domains with Germany-basd helicopter giant Eurocopter, according to a Mistral release on Thursday.
Mistral will be a technology partner to Eurocopter and will offer engineering services covering hardware design, firmware, embedded software development, systems integration, testing and qualification. This will help Eurocopter meet its defence offset obligations in relation to several acquisition programmes of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Under the offset programme obligations laid down by the government, for imports of defence equipment valued above 300 crore, it will be mandatory for foreign sellers to spend 30 per cent of the contract value in India, and also source goods and services from Indian companies. The offset obligation may be fulfilled in the form of co-production, licensed production, technology transfer, outsourcing of components, among others.
Mistral has a decade of experience in working with defence customers. Eurocopter Group is a division of EADS, a world leader in aerospace, defence and related services. With a turnover of 4.5 billion euros, it employs approximately 15,600 people. The company has 18 subsidiaries across five continents.
