MMTC has sought 18,000 tonnes of RBD palmolein at Kakinada port to be delivered in three lots of 6,000 tonnes each during June 23-August 7, while another 6,000 tonnes fixed for delivery at Paradeep port between July 1-15, the tender posted in the company's website said.

The tender will close on June 11 and MMTC will also take a decision on the same day, a government official said.
The fresh tender has come even as MMTC had cancelled its 42,000 tonnes bid on June 4.

RBD palmolein is made by refining the crude palm oil to reduce the stearin content of the oil so that the thickness is reduced and it does not concentrate at low temperature.

The government has recently decided to import one million tonnes of edible oil in the current fiscal for PDS.
Imports will be done by MMTC, STC, PEC and cooperative major Nafed. It would supply one litre of edible oil per month at subsidised rate.

These agencies are together deciding the import quantity on a weekly basis according to the requirement of the states.

The last MMTC tender was cancelled as there was not enough demand from the states, source said.
