In a bid to cash in on the growing automobile manufacturing near Ahmedabad, Chennai-based Murugappa Morgan Thermal Ceramics Ltd. (MMTCL) is set to double its industrial fibre and insulating ceramic paper producing capacity at its Kalol plant.
At an investment of Rs 60 crore, the current manufacturing capacity of industrial fibre at 5,000 tonnes per annum and insulating ceramic paper at 325 tonnes per annum will be doubled within three years, said Rajiv Moorthy, business head, MMTCL.
Apart from 'Kaowool paper' being manufactured at Kalol near Ahmedabad, the plant will also make India's first bio soluble 'Superwool paper' for Indian industry. Spread across 20 acres of land in Motibhoyan village in Kalol, the plant is UK based, Morgan Crucible Company's third facility globally to produce insulating ceramic paper products in association with MMTCL which is a joint venture between the Thermal Ceramics Division of Morgan Crucible Company, UK and CUMI, India.
