Mahindra Navistar Automotive which has recently added heavy commercial vehicles (HCV) of various range in its portfolio, which earlier consisted of light commercial vehicles (LCVs) only, is aiming to sell 50,000 heavy commercial vehicles (HCVs) and 20,000 light commercial vehicles (LCVs) in the next three years.
“We are now a full range commercial vehicle player with our HCVs range consisting of MN 25, MN 31, MN 40 and MN 25 Tipper and existing range of LCVs. In the next three years, the company aims to sell 50,000 heavy commercial vehicles (HCVs) and 20,000 light commercial vehicles (LCVs),” Mahindra Navistar Managing Director Nalin Mehta said here today. In the last year, the company sold about 11,000 units of LCVs.
While 160,000 units HCV market in the country is growing at 40 per cent per annum, LCV market of 240,000 units is growing at 15 per cent, he said.
The company, a joint venture between Mahindra&Mahindra and Navistar of the US, offers products like rigid trucks, multi-axle trucks, tippers, tractor trailers and is presently focusing on establishing its presence across various geographies in the country.
However, it has also plans to export right-hand drive (RHD) commercial vehicles manufactured in India to overseas markets like South Africa and SAARC countries.
“We are looking at the RHD markets of South Africa and SAARC countries for exports. But we want to consolidate our presence in the domestic market first," he said.
Mahindra Navistar manufactures vehicles above 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle-weight to 49 tonnes. Vehicle under 3.5 tonnes are produced by Mahindra & Mahindra.
