Sixty-seven per cent of those surveyed are planning a summer trip this year against 35 per cent last year. Despite the Indian currency slipping to 66-67 levels against the dollar, 31 per cent of the respondents were looking at international trips for summer 2016.

The survey also shows that more people are willing to spend on such summer trips, with 25 per cent looking to spend Rs 25,000-50,000 in 2016 against 17 per cent in 2015.
This summer, there has been a stark increase in families planning for holidays with 45 per cent opting for family vacation compared to only 17 per cent last year.
Sharat Dhall, president of Yatra.com, says: “We continue to see a strong year-on-year growth in Indians travelling to various foreign and domestic destinations. We have also seen an increased demand for newer destinations this summer with northeast India destinations making it to our top-five domestic destinations. Indians are increasingly making their travel bookings on the mobile and we expect to see a further increase in bookings via our app in the coming year.”
