Mother Dairy to raise prices of milk in Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) for key poly pack variants by Re 1 per litre with effect from July 16 on the back of rising procurement prices from dairy farmers. However, the prices of Bulk Vended Milk (BVM), commonly referred as Token Milk and Cow Milk, comprising over 30 per cent of Mother Dairy's total milk sales will remain unchanged, the company informed. The last consumer price revision in Delhi NCR was taken in May 2014.
The company claimed that it has also increased its farm prices by about 7 - 8 per cent in last one year while the effective consumer price hike is not more than 3 per cent. Mother Dairy passes close to 80 per cent of the sales realisation from milk towards the procurement of milk.
After India's largest dairy organisation Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) raised prices in the first week of June, several others had followed. Private dairies in Maharashtra including Gokul, Parag Milk Foods etc have already raised prices by Rs 2 per litre. Delhi-based private dairies too have raised prices about three-four weeks back.
