Mobile phone manufacturer Motorola Mobility today said that it continues to evaluate about using its Sriperumbudur facility, near Chennai, which has been idle for quite sometime now.

The company, which sold around three million mobile units in India between February and December 2014, is expecting its market to grow with the launch of new models.

While responding to a question on the status of the company's plans to launch its manufacturing in India, Marcus Frost, senior marketing director, EMEA & India said: "We continue to evaluate the possibilities of setting up a manufacturing plant in India. It is one of the several things that the company is evaluating."

In order to improve its after-sales service offerings, the company is also doing a trial on mobile service van in Delhi, which it would replicate in other cities if found successful, he said. The company currently has around 150 service centres across the country.

The company has upgraded one of its service centre in Bengaluru to an experience centre to showcase its products for potential customers.

With around seven products in the market now, the company is not looking aggressively at more product launches, Frost said. The company today launched the 4G and 3G variant of its mass market smart phone Moto E, for Rs 7,999 a unit and Rs 6,999 a unit, in Chennai.
