A mobile solution that helps cab drivers find optimised routes to ferry employees to and from offices has helped several Bengaluru companies cut logistics costs and save time. The pay-as-you-use transport solution developed by MoveInSync is being used by over 20 firms, including the India offices of Google.

Deepesh Agarwal, Akash Maheshwari and Anuvrata Arora, former executives from Motorola, Microsoft and Amazon, had set up MoveInSync witnessing an opportunity in providing cost-effective and safe ecosystem of enterprise employee transportation. The company claims savings of one fifth of time for employee travel, which means more time spent on productive work.

“It is mandatory for every cab and driver to comply with the optimised map route on his mobile. Our patented routing algorithms calculate optimised routes for cabs or buses which has contributed to 20 per cent savings for an enterprise in employee transportation,” said Deepesh Agarwal, co-founder and chief executive officer at MoveinSync. A client has seen savings of 27 per cent to 28 per cent, he said, but declined to name it.

MoveinSync was incubated at the Indian School of Business (ISB),  Agarwal said. He is an ISB alumnus. It provides employee transportation solutions to over 20 major corporates across the country.

“We clock about 20 million kilometres of safe travel every month,” Agarwal added.

Headquartered in Bengaluru, MoveInSync services clients such as Google, Microsoft, HSBC, Adobe, Oracle and Wipro, among others.

Google, in a statement said: “Besides automating the entire (logistics) business process for us, MoveInSync’s transport management system has enabled us to put in place strong systems for employee safety and security. Features like proximity SMSes and availability of driving directions to drivers through maps, have been widely appreciated by our employees as well as drivers.”

In 2014, MoveInSync saw revenue of Rs 4.7 crore and in 2015, they expect to grow revenue to Rs 7-8 crore. It raised in 2015, about $3.5 million from Saama Capital, Inventus Capital and Qualcomm Ventures.

When asked what drew them to MoveInSync, Suresh Shanmugham, managing partner, Saama Capital, said: “We invested in MoveInSync because we were very impressed with the founding team, the large size of the market opportunity and the growing roster of great customers.”

Meanwhile, Inventus, another investor says it didn’t have to think too hard. Managing director Samir Kumar said, “In MoveInSync, we found a team passionate about solving problems associated with transportation. Their solution and perseverance, made this a simple investment decision.”
