The MP government has cleared a Rs 8.8 crore investment plan of Delhi-based VRS Foods Ltd, makers of dairy products of the Paras brand. |
The company is expanding its existing units by setting up a ghee, skimmed milk and butter manufacturing unit in the Gwalior region. The company has proposed to set up its unit in Ghirongi (Malanpur) Food Park. |

"The firm has been issued letter of intention recently and has been allotted a land area of 9.88 acre in Ghirongi food park," a government official said. |

VRS entered the state by setting up a skimmed milk powder manufacturing unit of 45 metric tones capacity and ghee unit of 33 metric tones capacity. |

"With this investment its (VRD) capacity in skimmed milk powder will swell by 27 metric tonnes and ghee by 17 metric tones," said the source. |

"The company will soon start construction work on the project and the investment may go up to Rs 13 crore. With this the total investment of the company since last year is likely to go to 26 crore in the state," the official said adding, "the new unit will add forty more jobs to existing 60 jobs." |

VRS, which has a vibrant presence in the milk products since last 40 years will source milk from nearby villages. Malanpur area is known for its small scale and tiny ghee units scattered all over Gwalior region. |

The firm produces milk, dairy whitener, white butter, dematerialised whey powder, casein edible and industrial grade pure ghee and skimmed milk powder in bulk and consumer pack. |

"The firm has started construction in the food park which has a chilling unit and a warehouse," said the official. |

According to the Madhya Pradesh Dairy Cooperative Federation, there are 2,46,283 farmers engaged in dairy farming and are directly associated with 4,898 dairy cooperatives. |
