MSPL, the flagship company of the Baldota group, plans to invest Rs 1,500 crore for ramping up its wind energy generation capacity to 300MW from the present 160MW by 2008-09."We will invest close to Rs 1,500 crore to increase our power generation capacity to 300 MW from current 160 MW by 2008-09," Shrenik N Baldota, executive director of the company, said here. The iron ore mining, processing and exporting company currently has its wind farms located in Karnataka and Maharashtra and the capacities at these farms will be enhanced along with addition of new capacities in Gujarat, he said.On the other expansion plans of the group, Baldota said that the group's other company, Ramghad Minerals, is already into gold exploration and will invest Rs 300 crore in gold mining over the next two years."The company recently obtained the license to mine gold in Karnataka and will start gold production by 2008," he said.Meanwhile, referring to representations made by steel industry players before the government asking for a ban on iron ore exports, Narendrakumar A Baldota, CMD of MSPL said there was no logical reason why the exports should be banned "as there are sufficient resources for the domestic industry.""The iron ore exports should be continued for another ten years and thereafter based on industry requirements, it should be reviewed," he said.
