Mumbai police arrest ex NSEL head, Anjani Sinha

This is the third arrest in the Rs 5600 cr scam that rocked the spot exchange over 2 months back

The Economic offences wing (EOW) of the Mumbai police has arrested Anjani Sinha, former MD & CEO of the scam ridden spot exchange, NSEL. The mumbai police put Sinha under arrest at 6 pm after grilling him for the last 7-8 hours on his role in the Rs 5600 cr payment crisis that hit the exchange two months back. 
 
The police have charged Sinha under sections related to fraud, forgery and cheating and is expected to present him at the mumbai Metropolitan court tommorow.
 
Sinha who was supposed to appear before the Mumbai police's Economic Offences Wing on wednesday had sent his wife, Shalini Sinha, managing director of SNP Designs, with an application in which Sinha stated he would show up before them on Thursday.
 
Earlier on wednesday, Enforcement Directorate (ED) sleuths had grilled Anjani Sinha in connection with a money laundering case related to the exchange. The ED had, on Monday, registered a preliminary inquiry report under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, suspecting large-scale money laundering in the crippled exchange. 

The economic offences wing has already arrested  Jai Bahukhandi, former assistant vice-president and Amit Mukherjee, former assistant vice-president of business development at NSEL on charges of bribery.
