With it, Mysore became the seventh city to have an independent business directory of the Bangalore-based company taking its spread across a dozen cities, including five of last year.

"This is the first independent directory with the most comprehensive and updated business information with several user-friendly features, thereby making the search options for a known business more powerful. It will be published every year, hereafter," Getit Deputy General Manager Sunita said after the directory release.

The 94-page directory has 30,000 listings. Business telephone subscribers from all the telecom service providers, including BSNL, have a one-line free listing. It has a six-page information on travel and tourism relating to Mysore and nearby places, she said.

Mysore manager Srinath Bhadran said the city was divided into five zones and each business was marked in which the zone it is located to make the commercial directory a comprehensive one. Sunita said 75,000 copies including CDs will be distributed free of cost in Mysore.

Getit launched its first business directory in Mangalore last year, distributing one lakh free copies. The highest of 1.75 lakh copies were distributed in Bangalore, also last year. In the first phase, Bizlist was introduced in 12 cities, mainly covering South India, apart from Mumbai.

We plan to foray into North with a Delhi edition," she said.

A listing in the directory will provide excellent multi-city exposure to a business, increase awareness of its products and services and thus boost business for Mysore products. Besides, in a city like Mysore, where every customer knows whom to contact, but does not have the contact details, the directory will be a source-reference.

The reason for choosing Mangalore for the first commercial directory was that it tops in business and commercial activity after Bangalore. Mysore comes next but has a tremendous potential to grow, she told Business Standard.
