India's first Formula One driver Narain Karthikeyan looks set to cling on to the Formula One circus for yet another year.

The 28-year old Chennai ace has bagged a test driver deal for Williams. Narain's involvement with the team will include sharing testing responsibilities on Fridays prior to the race weekends.

An announcement to this effect is expected soon. Narain had earlier tested for Williams at Jerez, Spain, over a three-day period. He drove the V-8 powered Williams F1 car quicker than the top two drivers of the team.

Narain will be the second test driver after the Austrian Alexander Wurz, who was selected for his experience as a test driver. The consortium of Indian companies supporting Narain has extended their support to the champ even for a testing role.

However, Narain's performance in the high ranking Williams team is expected to be better than what he could manage for the struggling Jordan.

Williams is an extremely successful outfit who have been in Formula One for almost forty years, but goes into the new season without BMW as its engine partner and HP as their lead sponsor.

The team is powered by Cosworth engines and has Royal Bank of Scotland as their lead sponsor. However, Indian fans will be disappointed as none of the Friday action is aired on the Indian television.
