Addressing the media, Rajesh Masand, joint honorary general secretary, CMAI, said that the participation from the southern region in the garment fair is expected to dominate this year as well, with the garment industry growing at a faster pace in South India. |

Last year, the National Garment Fair had about 17,000 visitors with 40 per cent from South India. |

The garment manufacturing hubs such as Tirupur, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad have become major contributors to the readymade garment industry with exports of around Rs 4,000 crore while providing employment to about three lakh labourers who are predominantly women. |

Global brands such as Wal Mart has its sourcing in Bangalore and domestic brand such as Gokuldas, Madura Garments and Raymond have started manufacturing plants in Bangalore, he added. |

Mohan Sadhwani, executive director, CMAI, said with the abolishing of quota regime about 40 small-scale mills in South India were setting-up new facilities or expanding their manufacturing capacities that will entail an investment of Rs 30 to Rs 40 crore for each mill. |

Over 200 exhibitors and 250 stalls are expected in the fair that will showcase men's wear, women's wear, kid's wear and inner wear. |
